About Dr. James Moore
Dr. James Moore is a board-certified family medicine physician with over a decade of experience providing comprehensive care.
A native of a small town in Michigan, Dr. Moore's journey to medicine began with a unique path. He served as a mechanic on a nuclear submarine in the U.S. Navy from 1993 to 1999, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and dedication. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for science, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Michigan State University in 2006. He then received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Howard University in 2010.
Dr. Moore completed his residency in Family Medicine at UC Davis in 2013 and continued to practice in an outpatient clinic there until 2017. He then joined the Sutter Health family medicine department, where he worked from 2017 to 2025. Dr. Moore believes that the most effective healthcare is a partnership, viewing the patient-doctor relationship as a collaborative effort rather than a one-sided dynamic. He is committed to building long-lasting relationships with his patients and empowering them to take an active role in their health.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons. His hobbies include playing sports, watching movies, and he also has a passion for fixing things.
